Legacy Fighting Alliance 39 – Ian Heinisch

By Lance Edwards   Ian ‘The Hurricane’ Heinisch (9-1) is well known to LFA fans, having competed on three cards previously. At LFA 39 he has a chance at redemption when he faces Brazilian Gabriel Checco (10-2) in a middleweight title fight. Heinisch had previously fought for the title against Marcus Perez (9-1) and fell short at LFA 22. This time, ‘The Hurricane’ is determined to step out of the cage the victor. “In the fight with Perez, it was a lot of pressure, a lot of hype. I was looking past it to the UFC. I got caught; I wasn’t slippery like I should have been. I learned a lot, it really helped me. I was 15-0, 8-0 as a pro. I’m more of a complete fighter now. I…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 39 – Jerome Rivera

By Lance Edwards   It’s been a year since we saw Jerome Rivera (7-1). His last fight was at LFA 14 for the flyweight title. Unfortunately, the bout didn’t go his way, and Roberto Sanchez (8-1) won the bout in the third round via arm lock, before moving on to the UFC. Rivera returns at LFA 39 to face Brandon Royval (6-3) and is looking to show that he deserves another shot at the title. Rivera feels the best he has ever felt, physically and mentally, following his year off; “The year off from fighting wasn’t my choice. After the last fight, I took a little time as I’d had fight camps back to back but was back in the gym in August. I think there have been struggles to matchup…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 39 – Maycee Barber

By Lance Edwards   Maycee Barber (3-0) has been getting a lot of attention and is hotly tipped as a future star of MMA. At LFA 31, she submitted Kaila Thompson (1-2) in just thirty-one seconds. Barber returns at LFA 39 to face Audrey Perkins (1-0). A win for Barber would bring her to a four-fight win streak and garnish her with more attention. Barber was due to fight Mallory Martin last fight, but her opponent pulled from the fight before; “The fight with Kaila was a replacement fight. It went really quick. I’m not going to complain about being able to go in there and do what I wanted to do, but she wasn’t ready. I’m thankful that she stepped up and am happy I won the fight.” On May…
