Legacy Fighting Alliance 26 – Kolton Englund

By Lance Edwards Kolton Englund (5-2) despite only being 24 has over five years’ experience competing in MMA. Having come up the ranks from the Legacy Amateur Series to Legacy Fighting Championship, he now makes his progression to fight for Legacy Fighting Alliance. At LFA 26 he faces probably his toughest test to date when he steps in the cage with Thomas Webb (13-4), who is ten years his senior. Englund started training in boxing at the age of fifteen and moved into MMA relatively quickly, having racked up a number of years training under his belt. Webb isn’t the first experienced fighter Englund has faced; he is coming off a win against seasoned professional and Bellator and LFC veteran, Rey Trujillo (22-19). Englund faced Trujillo in a five-round fight…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 26 – Richard Odoms

Richard Odoms (13-3) faced Jared Vanderaa (6-1) for the inaugural LFA heavyweight championship, and handed the young up and coming fighter his first defeat. The Black Eagle has fought for a variety of promotions including Legacy Fighting Championship, Bellator, WSOF as well as LFA.  At Legacy Fighting Alliance 26 he returns to the cage to defend his heavyweight title, a title Odoms won with a carefully executed strategy. “I thought the fight went well, I did what I wanted to do as far as controlling the fight and being able to use the strategy I wanted to do. Getting the finish was even better. I set things up since round one. I wanted to show the division and the viewers I could go five rounds.” Odoms submitted Vanderaa with an…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 26 – Juan Adams

By Lance Edwards Juan Adams (1-0) has all the makings of a heavyweight phenomenon. He weighs in at the top of his weight class, but unlike many heavyweights at that weight, comes in to fight in shape and a lofty 6’5” tall. It’s highly unusual for a fighter on his second professional fight to be placed on a main televised card, and at that against an experienced opponent in the Maori boxer Brice Ritani-Coe (4-3). This should inform you as to the potential Adams brings to the cage. The Kraken’s first professional fight was against Chris Rose (0-3) in as bout that saw him get top position and start to rain down elbows. The referee, realizing Rose was unable to get out from under his opponent and was imminently due…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 26 – Charles Cheeks

By Lance Edwards Charles Cheeks (11-6) made his LFA debut at the very first event when he featured in the co-main event facing the seasoned UFC veteran Damon Jackson (12-2-1).  Some twenty-five events later, Cheeks returns to the LFA cage to face Westin Wilson (5-2). For this event Cheeks feels that we will see a different fighter than the one we saw previously against Jackson. Cheeks initially started training in more traditional arts. “In 2009 I started with traditional karate. I started watching the UFC. It was when Rampage and Rashad were on The Ultimate Fighter. I had wrestled in high school, and done a year in college, so thought I’d give it a try. I did karate to learn to kick. I did it for two years then had…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 26 – Itzel Esquivel

By Lance Edwards Itzel Esquivel (2-1) is a female strawweight fighter, who is quickly becoming popular with the LFA crowd. At LFA 26, this talented twenty-one year old makes her third appearance for the promotion, when she faces the Brazilian, Nicolle Caliari (3-1). This promises to be an excellent fast paced fight between two promising fighters, and one not to be missed. Esquivel herself has more martial arts experience than her age would suggest. “I started doing martial arts when I was little. I started Taekwondo when I was four, then learned karate and when I was seventeen started boxing. I then moved to MMA at nineteen.” Esquivel’s father had a background in boxing, but she came to the sport later. “My dad has a background in boxing, but didn’t…
