Legacy Fighting Alliance 32 – Juan “The Kraken” Adams

By Lance Edwards Juan Adams (2-0), despite only having had two pro fights, has made quite a stir. Some regard him as the future of heavyweight mixed martial arts. Juan’s second professional fight at LFA 26 saw him face and defeat Maori boxer Brice Ritani-Coe (4-4). The fight against Ritani-Coe lasted just one minute and thirty-three seconds. “Obviously I got hit a few times. I was a bit frustrated. With everything that happened with CJ, there was a lot of nervous energy. He hit me a couple of times; I caught him with a left, dropped him, got on top and pounded him out. Once I get on top and start hitting you most people can’t do much.” The incident Adams referred to occurred on the undercard. Fighter CJ Hancock…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 31 – Thanh Le

By Lance Edwards Thanh Le (7-1) is a fighter who has already attracted a lot of attention. A cast member of The Ultimate Fighter Season 22, Thanh Le was on Urijah Faber’s team. At LFA 31, Le faces The MMA Lab’s Bobby Moffett (10-2) in a bout for the Legacy Fighting Alliance Interim Featherweight Championship. Le recently appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series where he stopped Lazar Stojadinovic (12-6); “The fight went as planned. A finish with a contract would have been nice, but getting the finish was good.” That fight occurred back in July, but since then Le has continued to be active; “Since the Dana White show, I’ve been training and staying ready. I was looking for Aguilar, but he’s out with an injury. I’m happy to have…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 31 – Bobby Moffett

By Lance Edwards One of the most highly anticipated fights starting off 2018 is for the interim featherweight LFA belt. Bobby Moffett (10-2) faces TUF veteran Thanh Le (7-1) at LFA 31. Moffett originates from a grappling background, whereas Le comes from a striking background. A decade ago, we could expect a standard grappler vs striker affair. However, the game has moved on since then, and both fighters have rounded out their skillset. This makes both fighters potentially dangerous in all ranges of combat. In addition, both fighters are motivated by the interim title, as the current 145 lb champion Kevin Aguilar is injured; “It feels pretty good to be fighting for the interim title. I fought for the RFA belt and put too much pressure on myself. This time…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 30 – Curtis Millender

By Lance Edwards   “Curtious” Curtis Millender (13-3) has been rocking the LFA welterweight division. In October at LFA 24, he knocked out Matt Frincu (11-3) in just thirty-eight seconds of the first round via head kick. Frincu saw his four-fight win streak curtailed, and Millender increased his own streak to five wins. At LFA 30, Millender returns to the cage to face another tough welterweight in Nick Barnes (12-2). Millender is a dangerous opponent for anyone, and has a lot of experience in combat sports; “I’ve been wrestling and boxing since I was a kid. I started wrestling at seven or eight. My boxing wasn’t very official; I’d go to a gym and hit a bag and things like that. After high school, I took it a bit further.…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 30 – Jordan Wright

By Lance Edwards   One fighter to watch in 2018 is ‘The Beverly Hill Ninja’ Jordan Wright (8-0). Wright represents the whole package, a fighter who can strike, grapple and finishes opponents. The 6’1” middleweight hails from the legendary Jackson-Winklejohn school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a professional, Wright has never gone out of the first round, and has amassed four submission victories and four stoppages. As well as being a successful fighter, one thing Wright brings to the table is charisma and the ability to speak well. In this day and age those characteristics can help you go a long way in the sport if you also have the ability to fight well. Born in San Antonio, TX, Wright grew up in California in the Los Angeles area. As…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 29 – Chico Camus

By Lance Edwards There is something about Chico Camus (18-7) that can only be described as compelling. Whether it’s the background of how he got in MMA, his energy or his plain likeability, it’s hard to say. A veteran of RFA, LFA and the UFC, it’s easy to overlook him by his record. Once you unpeel the onion, and look at who he has fought, it paints a very different picture.  Most of Camus’ career has been against top opposition. Camus’ entry into the sport may represent one of the greatest success stories in MMA. Occasionally you hear people state that MMA saved their life, for Camus that may actually be a reality literally; “I was a troubled kid and was in a gang. I was involved with gang violence…

Legacy Fighting Alliance 29 – “Crazy” Carl Wittstock

By Lance Edwards   "Crazy" Carl Wittstock (9-2) is a throwback to the days when fighters fought for the love of fighting. Wittstock encompasses the stereotype of a tough, gritty guy who just loves to compete in the cage. At LFA 29, he faces off against Brandon Jenkins (10-5) in a fight that sees no love lost.   Wittstock is from Memphis, MO (pop. 2,041), a tiny town in northeast Missouri, where he has lived all his life. In such a small place, pursuing the sport of MMA wasn’t the easiest endeavor;   “There are no MMA gyms around here and absolutely no one I knew was doing it, but I saw it on TV and thought, huh, I think I could do that. So I found a regional show…
